The JDPC is currently running a program tagged establishing community structure for peace building and conflict transformation.
On Thursday 29th April 2010 the JDPC organized the first Nasarawa state Peace forum the aim of which was to bring together the diverse religious leaders and group to dialogue on the need for peaceful coexistence in the state .
The peace forum was held at the Ibrahim Abacha youth Centre Lafia. There were representations from the state ministry information, the state commissioner of police who also delivered a paper, religious, traditional and community leaders. However, the state deputy
An advocacy visit was also made to the deputy governor’s office by the JDPC comprising of the Coordinator, Peace officer, core and peace team members and the provincial peace advisor after the forum and were received by the state deputy governor Mr. Michael John Abdul who stated that Government recognized and appreciate the efforts of the JDPC and showed her readiness to continue to partner with the organization in peace building activities. The deputy governor stated that the state government has noted with joy the complementary effort the JDPC has been playing in peace building activities and promise the state government will continue to encourage and assist the organization in what ever area possible.
The peace initiative was stepped down at the palace of the Andoma of Doma Ahl. Ahmadu Aliyu ogah Onawo (OON) on Friday 24th September 2010. With other community leaders present.

  • On Monday the 20th of September 2010, as part of its activity to mark the 2010 world peace day, the JDPC organized a football event Tagged ‘Sports for peace and development’ the aim of which was to show case youth as a catalystof progressive change in the society To share experiences and understand areas of misconception (disagreement) and proffer solution on how to resolve issues that will result there after.
  • To encourage continuous dialogue as a means to solving problem.
  • To build the trust and confidence for community participation in peace building activities.

. In this regard, the state government was represented by the state ministry of information and the state commissioner police Mr. Ephraim uzor delivered a Tilled Religion and peace in Nasarawa state.

. The event which was sponsored  by the German Technical cooperation (GTZ)  had FC leopard played against Akwanga selected football club. The kick off was done by the GTZ field officer in Nasarawa state Jibrin Abdullahi Jallo assisted by Raymond Dangana From GTZ Abuja Office. The football match ended 1-0 in favor of Akwanga selected.
On Tuesday the 21st day of September, a seminar to mark the 2010 was also organized at the college of education Akwanga where lectures tilled ‘Youth peace and Development’ was delivered. Also drama and dances were organized to depict the theme of the event. The event witnessed participant from various secondary and tertiary institution including women and youth groups.
